The Easter Storm

voiceforwildlifeHello and welcome to VoiceforWildlife where today I'll be showing a poem that I wrote during a rough storm on a holiday. I hope you enjoy! The Easter Storm In shivering wind In dark and damp In the shade of dull yellow Shone from a street lamp Ominously dead Freakishly alive In the depths of night New creatures arrive Winds beat Rain taps On the glass panes Waiting for thunder to clap A crash like a bullet A bellow of intrigue The storm remains rough Thoughts gathering - easy to conceive A breeze of ice A gap in the pane As a draft flows over my face A comfort in the storm-calm and tame Beads of light The room is flooded By the whirling lighthouse Sleep is eluded The smell of sea air In an unfamiliar bed A place of great comfort As I rest my head A Knock and a Crash As the beast attacks Who was causing these sounds Information lacked People, strangers walk so close Their lights a distraction from sleep Who could endure the most? The Seagulls calls stop I wonder where could they be The storm slashes greater than ever I hope them and young are safe like me. Flimsy nests High on the roof Adults and young battle to survive Their feathers not yet water proof Worry fills my head migrating birds traveling here Danger on high and blown of course Until the morn I'll wait in fear A sudden gush of Wind Tiles Crash and slide The roof shakes - unstable There is no where left to hide My Stomach pierced My heart lurches As the storm screams loud And for closure my mind searches The air chilled Crisp and fresh I imagine the perilous seas A sailors sodden flesh Still the light house guides A torch to the blind Three arms guid the way home No crew-mate left behind So I lay, Hopefully not till late What an extravagant event Thanks to storm Kate!
