voiceforwildlifeHello and welcome to VoiceforWildlife where today I'll be showing a poem that I wrote during a rough storm on a holiday.I hope you enjoy! The Easter StormIn shivering windIn dark and dampIn the shade of dull yellowShone from a street lampOminously deadFreakishly aliveIn the depths of nightNew creatures arriveWinds beatRain tapsOn the glass panesWaiting for thunder to clapA crash like a bulletA bellow of intrigue The storm remains roughThoughts gathering - easy to conceiveA breeze of iceA gap in the paneAs a draft flows over my faceA comfort in the storm-calm and tameBeads of lightThe room is floodedBy the whirling lighthouseSleep is eludedThe smell of sea air In an unfamiliar bed A place of great comfortAs I rest my headA Knock and a CrashAs the beast attacksWho was causing these soundsInformation lackedPeople, strangers walk so closeTheir lights a distraction from sleep Who could endure the most? The Seagulls calls stopI wonder where could they beThe storm slashes greater than everI hope them and young are safe like me.Flimsy nestsHigh on the roofAdults and young battle to surviveTheir feathers not yet water proofWorry fills my headmigrating birds traveling hereDanger on high and blown of courseUntil the morn I'll wait in fearA sudden gush of WindTiles Crash and slideThe roof shakes - unstableThere is no where left to hideMy Stomach pierced My heart lurchesAs the storm screams loudAnd for closure my mind searchesThe air chilledCrisp and fresh I imagine the perilous seas A sailors sodden flesh Still the light house guidesA torch to the blindThree arms guid the way homeNo crew-mate left behindSo I lay,Hopefully not till lateWhat an extravagant eventThanks to storm Kate!By Jamie ClarkAged 15 Written in the night of southwold - during storm Kate whilst on a holidayEaster Sunday 27th March 2016
